Emz tagged me the other day to list 7 things I am going to do in 2012. So, I decided that I will post in true Emz style.*

uno – attempt to BQ. That’s right. B. freaking. Q. It isn’t going to be easy. It is going to be down right hard. [more details in the future]
dos – figure out how to have a successful IM run. “Successful” = not puking and being able to actually run it.
tres – do my BEST to make the MI Iron Titanium a hit. Why "titanium". 28 page cease and desist order. WTC. you. SUCK. Nevertheless, it will have the best transition area ever. Titanium is stronger than Iron.
Yep. That is me totally rocking it out at a piano recital.
quatro – relearn to play the piano. Step 1. Acquire piano from my mom’s (possibly under the cover of darkness if necessary). Step 2. Buy ear plugs for Jennie. This. could. be. ugly. Have not played in 10 years. At. All.
Things I will not be eating at IMMT
cinco – learn at least some basic French so I am not totally lost in Mont Tremblant. [ Où puis-je obtenir quelques poutine ]
seis – “and I will run bike 5000 6000 miles”. Didn’t quite make it in 2011 [5500-ish]. 2012 will be the year.
This will not be me.
siete – this one is for you Emz. Run a long run [at least 10 miles] on the dreadmill treadmill. Not the 100 treadmill miles Emz freaking. Rocked. But I would be thrilled to be 1/10th the runner she is. Most I have done on the treadmill? 5 miles. This may suck. Need to get the treadmill serviced though because it feels like the belt slips occasionally. Don’t want to fall off.
I believe both Heather (@ Just Another Day In the Life of Team Oravec) and Colleen (@ Irondiva) were lamenting over the lack of blog post topics the other day so… Tag!

That’s going to make for a very fun year! Well, maybe except the treadmill part. I’ve done 20 on a treadmill, do it quite regularly actually. long runs on the treadmill are safe, you’re always close to a bathroom, and can watch a great movie or other visual distraction.
Good luck on the piano. I played for the kids when we had one in SC, but that was about it. it’s harder to re-learn as an adult than I was expecting it to be.

For starters, you could have numbered the list in French and not Spanish, monsieur

Haha! But it isn’t 2012 yet. I don’t plan on learning French until then. For now, you will just have to make due with my highschool level Spanish

Whenever I read EMZ’s posts, I always think about what a pain in the butt it would be to bold and resize random words. Good job, though. It cracked me up.
Dude, you play the piano? That’s so cool! Jenn and I had great aspirations of getting into it. In fact, we bought a piano, but it just sat in the house for a couple years. We sold it on Craigslist and made more than what we bought it for. That was a studly picture of you at your recital. Nice form!
I don’t know about 10 miles on a treadmill, but that 6000 miles goal rocks! Way to go! Mine is going to be something like 3000.

Awesome that you are going to learn French. That means I can just nod and point, how do you say, “me too.”
Pianos are too big to move, learn to play guitar!
I thought EMZ had hijacked your blog! Well done!

Ok, I’m going to have to have some fun with this. I’m going to learn French just so I can stick you in awkward situations now. haha
I have a guitar. It has been hanging on my office wall for about 5 years now. We don’t get along very well. I can handle the chords (with some practice), I just suck at strumming.

Operation 2012: Get (most likely trick) Kevin into eating Poutine! What shall we bet/wager?
I’m with you on the successful IM run. Basically we just need to become monsters on the bike next year!

I think I just need to avoid the Perform on the bike this year. That stuff was just vile. Jeff is sending me some EFS to try. Maybe I’ll get hooked.
What food to you detest? We can have a gross food contest post race.

Try the poutine. It is actually pretty good. (just wait til after your race)
And I don’t think there will be any issue getting the piano….

what’s wrong with puking? Isn’t that the best way to stay in shape? Besides, it’s not a party until someone pukes…I am sure that applies to running marathons, especially ones after a 112 mile bike ride.

Nothing wrong with puking AFTER the party. It is puking DURING the party that makes you look like a lightweight. I am totally speaking hypothetically though; not from experience. I have family and co-workers who read this blog after all.

It is very definitely “the” year for many things. And more power to you on a 10-plus mile treadmill run. I couldn’t do it.

I run on the treadmill from mid-October-ish to April (Live in Canada, the risk of broken limbs from slipping on ice is higher for me than for many – I’m clumsy.
)
I did 23.25 miles a couple weeks ago… it was brutal. Really. I can do 10, no problem. Pop in a good DVD and just run. Good luck!

I know you can do it. And IT is BQ as well as the 10 miles on the treadmill. I once ran 13 so you can do 10. Get after it.
And I am beyond excited for 2013 to become a MiTi Man…..
And huge congrats to you for writing in that style. No way I would have been able to do that. Not a chance.

If you won’t try pouting, take a trip to a nj diner and get disco fries. They will change your life.
Why is one of your goals to torture yourself for 10 miles?

Dang man, you definitely hit EMZ writing style! STOP THOUGH! I have a hard enough time reading her posts as it is! not another blog to EMZ-ify!
If that is what poutine looks like, I AM OUT! I almost threw up in my mouth at that pic!
10 miles on the mill? Wow, I have a complete utter hatred for dreadmills and have run 12 or so even… I guess when it is super shitty outside I prefer to have a “decent” run and hit the mills.
This winter H and I have some mega hill training to do, debating doing them on the mill or not

Ha! Great Post!
FYI – Good on ya for wanting to learn french… however, it’s very bilingual up there. You wont likely run into very many people who don’t speak English.
See ya on the course in 8 months!!!

I have had poutine. It is actually ridiculously, crackishly good. I swear it is the cheese curds.
You will have no problem in MT – it is bilingual for sure!! You will hear a lot of French, but probably will not be forced to speak it. All I can say in French is “Cut the 8 inch spruce”, “Don’t cross the stream” and “You are fired”

I did 16 on the treadmill last winter during a blizzard. Facing a blue wall. With the gym rules posted on it. There were 5 rules, I knew them quite well in the end. I think the rest of the folks working out thought I’d completely lost my mind!
