It seems like it was just yesterday that I started my de-tapering. But as quickly as it started, it has ended. And now it is back to the regular training.
I finished up last week’s training with a couple of easy workouts. I got in a quick bike ride Friday morning before we headed out of town. I didn’t have much time, so I just did 18 miles around Reeds Lake. I can’t get over how much I am loving my new bike position. It has been about a month and half since I had the fit and I am unbelievably comfortable on the bike now. Not only that, but my times have dropped and my speed has increased since the fit.
I took a day off on Saturday – unless you count disc golf as exercise – which would be a stretch. The wedding festivities really filled up the day quickly.
On Sunday though, I took off to Stony Creek Metro Park for a longish run. I parked outside the park to avoid the $5 entry fee and ran in. There were a ton of people out on the trails. Most were biking which made me wish I had brought my bike, but it can be a pain to travel with. I wandered around on a bunch of the trails, some paved, others not. I got turned around a couple of times, but in the end, found my way back to the car. I ended up with an easy 9 mile run.
Weekly Totals
I finished my de-tapering week with
- 3 bike rides: 48 miles
- 2 runs: 13 miles
- 2 swims: 4100 yards
- 1 kayak: 1.5 miles
It was just enough to allow me to rest while still keeping me busy enough that I didn’t go stir crazy. Hopefully it was enough so that I can bounce right back into a full week of training. Here goes nothing!

Funny, I was just at that park a couple weekends ago for a wedding…. its a miracle you didn’t get terribly lost while running! That place seemed huge.

That park(from the aerial view) reminds me of the one i bike and run at too! you had a very good balance of activity for a de-tapering week. But you’re right…it’s over before you know it. Back to the training!

I love those random runs where you take it easy and just go wherever the path leads you!
