Feeling Flat

I had my first flat tire today.  Luckily I had the flat tire when I got my bike down in the garage rather than getting one while on the road.  The ironic thing is that I was talking with a co-worker this morning who just had a flat tire yesterday.  I had commented that “knock on wood”, I hadn’t had a flat yet. I guess I jinxed myself.  To look at the positive of it, I got some experience under my belt in case it ever happens in a race.

Other than the flat tire, I myself am starting to feel flat.  My ride today emphasized how tired my legs are.  The past two weeks have been killer training weeks with 10 hours of training one week and nearly 11 the next.  That training included both an Olympic (Grand Haven) and sprint triathlon (Tri Del Sol).  Today’s workout was an hour and half on the bike that I struggled through at a 17mph pace.  This should be my last hard week of training before I taper off for Steelhead on August 1st.
