First, let me start by welcoming you to my new blog. I have transitioned my running blog entries from the old blog to this one, but otherwise, it is a new endeavor.
I stumbled across an Ironman training schedule on OpenTri that got me really thinking about someday doing a full Ironman. To motivate myself, I had the idea to start a new blog focusing on the goal. So, to keep me honest, I am going to try to do a better job of logging information about my current training here (hopefully at least once a week).
Goal #1 for this summer is to ramp up my cycling. My longest ride to date is a little less than 40 miles. It isn’t necessarily that I am tired at 40 miles, it is more that I run out places to go. I can do a huge lap around East GR and Cascade, get home and have only gone 25 miles. So, I guess the main way to get over this slump is to venture out further and find new routes (probably using MapMyRide).
Goal #2 is to finish an Olympic distance triathlon. There are two different ones that I am looking at – one in Grand Haven and one in Lansing. I’m fairly confident I am at the training level to complete one now, but I would like to get some more cycling under my belt before hand.
Finally, not really a goal, but more a todo. I need to find a way to integrate SportTracks into the blog. I can do it manually by copy/pasting screen shots, but it would be nice if there was an easy way to publish a daily summary.
