This week was a busy week for training. I didn’t have as many miles running, but I made up for it with extra time on the bike in the trainer. This was by far the coldest week of the year with nearly every day in the single digits and negative wind chills. With the cold, it made it difficult to stay outside for much more than 6 miles without starting to get painful. I did do a 5k on Saturday and ended up with a decent time considering the weather and even placed 1st in my age group. Biking has gotten easier already with the extra workouts this week. I am able to bike for an hour or so in the basement with the TV on to make the time pass faster. As for swimming, I did my first workout from my “Swim Workouts for Triathletes” book. It was an endurance swim of about 2600 meters in total. Breaking the swim up into smaller segments made the time pass quicker and made simply counting laps less boring. Clocking in at over 50 minutes, it was the longest I have spent up at the pool for one workout.
It should warm back up this week (into the 20’s), so I should be able to get out and do a 10+ mile run sometime this week. I’m going to try and do at least 2 bike workouts again as long as my legs don’t get too worn out.
