Race Report: Portland Winter Run

It was single digit temperature with the wind chill below zero for the Portland Winter Run 5k which is pretty much par for the course for this race.  I ran it with CJ and her dad again this morning.  It is a small run – only about 200 runners – so I did very well in comparison.  I placed 22 overall with a time of 21:40 which also earned me a medal for first in my age group.  It is kind of nice to run the small races and be able to place.

I have run the Portland Winter Run twice now and it is a very well put together race.  The post race refreshments are very nice with home-made chili, bread from Great Harvest Bread Co., apples, bananas, and Krispy Kreme donuts (not my cup of tea, but they are very popular).  The only thing missing from the refreshments is a energy drink like Gatorade, but that is understandable that a short distance race.  The one thing you can count on is that it will be cold, very cold, so bundle up.
